Rumors circulating on social media claiming actor and martial artist Chuck Norris is running for Congress in Texas are false, according to a review of official election records and party filings.

Chuck Norris Congress Hoax

American Liberty Media staff have verified that Chuck Norris has not filed any paperwork with the Federal Election Commission and has not submitted documentation to the Republican Party of Texas seeking a place on the ballot for the March 2026 primary elections. The filing deadline for candidates to appear on the ballot for the 2026 primaries was December 8, 2025.

Despite online posts asserting that Norris is running for Congress in Texas’ 43rd Congressional District, no such district currently exists. Texas has 38 congressional districts following the most recent redistricting cycle, making any claim tied to a “Texas 43rd District” factually incorrect.

Federal candidates are required to file statements of candidacy and campaign finance paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, and candidates seeking a party nomination must also meet filing requirements established by the state party. No records show Norris taking any of those steps.

The claims appear to have originated on social media platforms and were shared without sourcing or corroboration. No credible news organizations, campaign filings, or official statements from Norris or his representatives support the allegation that he is seeking elected office.

Chuck Norris, a longtime Texas resident, has been politically active in the past, particularly in conservative advocacy and endorsements, but there is no evidence that he is running for Congress in 2026 or any other election cycle.

With the filing deadline now passed, Norris cannot appear on the ballot for the 2026 primary elections, effectively closing the door on any potential congressional run this cycle.

In recent years, media analysts and social media researchers have documented the growth of Facebook pages that intentionally publish false or misleading political information to generate engagement. Many of these pages originate outside the United States, including from countries such as the Philippines and India, where operators monetize viral traffic through advertising, page growth, or resale. These pages frequently recycle fabricated political claims involving well-known public figures, knowing that recognizable names drive clicks and shares regardless of accuracy. The Chuck Norris rumor appears consistent with this pattern of engagement-driven misinformation by foreign actors.
