A new poll of 350 decided voters likely to participate in the Texas Republican primary shows Aaron Reitz holding a commanding lead in the race for Texas Attorney General.

Aaron Reitz Chip Roy Mayes Middleton

In the survey, processed by American Liberty Media, 49.4 percent of respondents said they would vote for Reitz in the Republican Primary. Mayes Middleton followed with 25.1 percent, while Chip Roy received 23.4 percent. Joan Huffman trailed with 2.0 percent support.

The poll has a margin of error of ±5.24 percent, placing Reitz’s support between approximately 44.2 percent and 54.6 percent. Middleton’s support ranges from about 19.9 percent to 30.3 percent, while Roy’s ranges from roughly 18.2 percent to 28.6 percent.

Statistically, Reitz’s lead is significant. Even at the low end of his confidence interval, he remains well ahead of both Middleton and Roy at their highest possible levels, indicating a clear front-runner in the race. By contrast, the gap between Middleton and Roy falls within the margin of error, meaning their contest for second place cannot be determined definitively from this poll alone.

The results also suggest a potential runoff scenario. While Reitz is near the 50 percent threshold needed to avoid a runoff, his support could fall either just below or just above a majority once sampling error is considered.

Statistically, there is a dead heat for 2nd place. If there is a runoff, either Chip Roy or Mayes Middleton will likely be running from behind against Ken Paxton’s hand-picked successor, Aaron Reitz.

Overall, the poll indicates a race defined by a strong leader and a competitive battle for second place, with the eventual outcome likely hinging on whether Reitz consolidates enough support to secure an outright majority or whether his challengers can force a runoff.
