In a historic night at Kyle Field, 110,905 fans gathered to witness the King of Country, George Strait, in concert on Saturday. This record-setting crowd surpassed the previous U.S. concert attendance record by over 3,000 people.
The previous record was held by the Grateful Dead, who performed in front of 107,019 people at Raceway Park in New Jersey in 1977, according to Billboard.
Typically, Kyle Field is known for hosting Texas A&M football games, but only a select few musical artists can draw a crowd comparable to a game day. George Strait, however, proved to be an exception, transforming the iconic football stadium into a sea of country music fans.
Strait, no stranger to playing sold-out stadiums, previously performed for over 104,000 fans at AT&T Stadium in June 2014. His latest achievement comes just ahead of the release of his new album, "Cowboys and Dreamers," due out on September 6th.
